June 2021
In Person Meetings Resume!
Most of us will agree that this past 15 months has been a real test of our endurance to make changes we never thought possible to our normal routine of life. Yes, the pandemic has taken away so many things we had taken for granted. And now, our lives can get back to a more normal routine with the vaccines taking hold. June 15th is but a few weeks away with new guidelines and our bonsai club is ready to once again start its normal programing with the month of July.
July 1st will be our first meeting of the year. This will not happen without the club taking prescribed precautions from the church facilities request where we meet. The church requests that no refreshments be severed by the club at this time. However, you can bring personal items to eat for yourself. These requests from the church could change once new guidelines from the county is sent out over the next few weeks. Hence, we will need to be patient to see what the new safety requirements are a large group like our club meetings. We will keep you up to date in next month’s newsletter. But be ready to still wear your normal prescribed mask.
“Our first program of the year will be Gerry Field’s Tree Improvement program.”
Now, on with the show! Our club’s Board of Directors met last week at our zoom meeting and reviewed issues that must be confronted to get the club up and operating once again. We all agreed that July will be our first meeting. And our first program of the year will be Gerry Field’s Tree Improvement program. That evening, everyone will have an opportunity to bring in a bonsai tree they need positive suggestions for. Everyone in the club can take part with their creative comments. Everyone at times get stuck with their trees direction and need positive new ideas that can make a real difference for the trees final outcome. That meeting will confront those issues. Everyone please bring in at least a couple of trees to be reviewed.
What a great way to start off the club’s first program of the year! Next month, the board of directors and anyone who might like to take part will meet at a local restaurant and review possible ideas for meeting programs for the remaining months of this year.
To start off the formal tree display, I will be bring the trees for the month July.
Closing Thoughts
This has been a most difficult past few months for me with selling our home of 35 years, organizing and packing up personal things we have collected over the years, and then moving to a new location with my daughter’s family until we can find a new home where we can reside. So many decisions, so many trips to Brentwood and back for more things to be transported to our new temporary home. Life is good, but this moving has left me frazzled and wanting to get settled with my bonsai trees all in their place.
Stay safe everyone, and have a great time working with your bonsai trees this month!
