New Year, New Site
A Note From the Editor
January 2021
Welcome to the Midori Bonsai Club’s new website! This is an exciting new time for us as we give the website a new look.
It has been our pleasure to design our club’s new online home. My design crew and I spent the last month designing, editing, and proofreading the website. The new website is elegant and easy to use for both new and returning members.
The newsletter can be found here in a blog format. The articles are now split up and posted by author. There is also a search bar. This will be very handy in searching for specific techniques. We will be attempting to upload the archive of old newsletters and images over the years in the near future.
The logo also got a new look as well. The original logo was simplified with an elegant enso circle around the original Midori Bonsai tree. The typeface used to give the Midori logotype is Alverata, a modern and contemporary font inspired by historical stylings, similar to how modern bonsai draws upon old traditions while remaining stylish. Its gentle curves harkens back to the original torii gate in the original logo, our symbol of welcome.
We would like to thank everyone who we reached out to for suggestions, ideas, and testing the website. There was a lot to be done.
Please enjoy our new home as we go into a new year.
Upcoming Midori Events
See you at the first Thursday zoom meeting at 7pm on Jan 07! Then the third Thursday meeting on Jan 21. Now is a great time to study tree silhouettes, get critique, and (towards the end of the month) repotting. We’ll be assisting with these aspects in the online meeting. Can’t wait to see everyone!
