President’s Message
April 2025
April means the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and with that, our annual bonsai show will once again take place at the Quinlan Community Center in Cupertino. This two-day show will be held on April 26th and 27th, where our club has a chance to display many of the club's bonsai trees and, in addition, have a dedicated area to work on our trees at the show. This is a fun yearly event for our club, where hundreds of local residents pass through to inspect our trees and ask questions about their age and development.
A sign-up form will be passed around at our next few meetings for those who have developed trees to be displayed. We will need trees of various sizes, as well as accompanying accent plants, along with a stand of some sort to showcase your tree. This is a two-day event, and it's nice to exchange trees each day, so many members will have the chance to display a tree. Our introductory table, which displays our club's literature, will also need additional accent plants and any blossoming trees or plants you may have.
We request that as many members as possible stay for the entire day, bringing a tree to work on and being available to answer any questions the public may have. So, please bring your bonsai tools; snacks and drinks will be available in the building for free. There will be outside vendors offering a variety of foods for lunch, which will need to be purchased.
Saturday Morning: Entry into the building starts at 8:00 AM. At that time, the displays will need to be erected, and all trees must be set in place. The Cherry Blossom Show starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday Morning: Please arrive around 9:00 AM for the new trees to be set in place.

For Our First Thursday Meeting
This will be a surprise panel of four demonstrators from our own club, who will share a variety of bonsai subjects that evening. All four of our demonstrators are excited to offer everyone a special opportunity to learn about bonsai and hopefully inspire you to take up their suggestions. What topics will they share? That’s for you to find out, so be there to learn. This will be a fun and varied evening for everyone.
Our Third Thursday Meeting / Beginners Class Starts
This will be our normal club workshop for those who have trees to work on, and in addition, our club’s beginners program will also start that evening. Our usual room arrangement will be adjusted to accommodate both programs.
If you haven't already signed up for the class, our first Thursday meeting will be your last chance to do so before it starts at the next meeting. Juan Cruz is in charge and will be collecting enrollment names and the $20.00 fee for the three-month class.
Have a great month of April doing bonsai, everyone! 🌳
