President’s Message

July 2021

Hot Dog! July is finally here! And with that the Midori Bonsai Club will once again resume our normal club meetings. All of us bonsai lovers can once again meet and share our appreciation together with informative and challenging club meetings that will keep us all informed with the latest bonsai knowledge. Where else can you be built up and encouraged by fellow club members that understand our love of little trees and their care.

Our Tree Improvement Program

But we need everyone in the club to show up to our first Thursday meeting July 1st — that will get our meetings off to a great encouraging evening of association and exchange of bonsai knowledge. Even if you hadn’t been a regular club attendee in the past, this first Thursday meeting will be a great reunion for all of us. So please, drop everything, and head down to the church facility and be ready to have a great time together sharing our Tree Improvement Program

We’re asking everyone who attends to bring in at least one bonsai tree you have questions about — health issues, styling questions, how you can get your tree on the road to a great bonsai will be discussed by senior members that have great insight with turning around problem issues. Gerry Fields will be heading up that program that evening with everyone chiming in for support and positive suggestions. This will be a great way to start off a new Summer Season free of the past challenges we all faced.

Safety Requirements

Now for the final clincher, JT just approached the church facility with questions that had to be answered to let everyone know what safety requirements are needed by our club in order for us to meet as a large group.

They still want everyone to wear an appropriate mask that evening along with sanitizer available for everyone as they enter the facility. Tables that are used during the program will need to be wiped down along with chairs used by club members. Much of this will be taken care of prior to everyone arriving by the board of directors that oversee club functions.

This is over the top safety precautions, but we need to adhere to their requirements and so we all can be in a safe environment to enjoy our meeting.

As usual, we all need to use social distancing as a precaution, and food items such as cookies and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome. If you would like to bring in a food item to share that would be ok.

I know that this is a step into the past regarding safety precautions, but members that are not vaccinated will appreciate these safety procedures. These requirements may change in the near future.

Club Dues

An important item that we all need to take care of is paying for our half year's dues that will be due starting in July (a $20.00 amount). It would be great if everyone that attends that evening program takes care of that if possible before leaving. A table will be set-up for that purpose at the beginning and ending of our meeting.

As a final reminder: arrive with a mask to wear, one or more trees that you need to have discussed for positive suggestions and a drink or food item you would enjoy that evening. That's it! And look forward to seeing everyone once again!

Have a great month of July doing bonsai everyone!
