Trees in the Wild

A wild pine with a twisted trunk. This pine has elements of a literati style—the foliage is sparse and the trunk is very long and slender. It is found high in the California Sierra where resources are scarce and harsh weather is frequent. 🌳

East Bay Bonsai Society Annual Auction
June 14th 2023 Oakland, California
The East Bay Bonsai Society will be having an in-person bonsai auction on Wednesday, June 14th at 666 Bellevue Ave., Lakeside Park Garden Center (Lake Merritt) in Oakland, California! The auction will start at 7:30pm with a preview at 7:00pm. It will include established and starter bonsai trees, pots, tools, etc. Credit cards, checks, and cash accepted. Free admission. Parking available. Sales tax will be added to purchases. Masks are optional.

We will work with our beginners showing them how to approach a young juniper sapling and making it into a pre-bonsai that they can be proud of and take home that evening. This will be free of charge to all participants, but we ask that they all bring them back to our next Third Thursday meeting in June.

A bonsai demonstration will be in the program inside the temple. The bonsai will be auctioned at the completion of the demonstration. Winner must be in attendance.
